an introduction to pottering around

Hello. Welcome to Pottering Around.

One of my favourite responses whenever anybody asks me how I will be spending my weekend is to reply with, ‘oh, y’know, just pottering around’.

To anyone unfamiliar with this phrase (hello to those not from the UK), the Cambridge Dictionary defines it as:
'potter about / around - to spend time in a pleasant, relaxed way, often doing small jobs around the house.’

Which isn’t far off what I would define it as:

‘To do activities and / or hobbies at home that offer fulfilment and joy’.

I love to try out new creative pursuits - creating this Substack being one of them. I am hoping that Pottering Around will not only hold me accountable to continuing to practice creativity throughout my week, but will also offer some small inspiration to others.

Alongside the hobbymaxxing content, I want to create a space where I will be personal and honest about the realities of being a 30 something woman who is still trying to figure it all out - so expect the occasional, vulnerable piece on my inner goings-on.

I can’t wait to spend more time here and hopefully you’ll choose to stick around!
